quart
Talked to Jeanne and heard that they removed a quart of fluid from Dad's abdomen this evening. It was bile so it looks like they want to do a procedure tomorrow to unblock two bile ducts. This is supposed to happen first thing in the morning, but who knows anymore. Jeanne seemed to think Dad was more comfortable after the quart was removed. Bless his heart. I'm hoping that opening the two bile ducts will solve this acute problem and make him feel so much better.

Took us a while to figure out how to use this blog, but think we are on board now. Glad to hear news about Lloyd without having to bother Jeanne with telephone calls when she has so many other things to do.
ReplyDeleteComplications are usual with cancer, but Lloyd seems to be having more than his share. If the stent is blocking the bile ducts, have the doctors a remedy besides removing the stent?

It is my understanding that it is not the stent that is blocking his bile ducts (stents are used for just the opposite) but the infection. The stent already in place is in his small intestine just after it leaves his stomach, keeping that passage open. It seems that this initial blockage was the result of the cancer growth around his pancreas, which caused his initial symptoms of vomiting & lack of BMs.
